Let me give you some background. MAC's (Apple Computers) were mostly regarding as an artsy more off the beaten track and more expensive way of computing. Until a few years ago, MAC's wre using Risc technology and has switch to Intel processors, thus lowering price, but somehow, this, plus a combination of a few other details, has swayed a lot of developers (more every day) to the new platform and away from the norm (PC).
Based on a BSD backend, which is a version of open source unix, OSX, the MAC operating system, it allows for a lot of flexibility and high performance for a relatively affordable price, though still more expensive that your regular PC.
Added to the new revolution is the release of the iphone which launches Apple computers further up the pedestal because mobile development is on the rise and people need machinery to make best performance software.

Every 6 months or so, colleagues from Germany and America get together to run tests on who's got the faster supercomputer. Narrowly missing defeat IBM's "Roadrunner" tops the list coming in at 1.105 peteflops/s. At the Oak Ridge National Laboratory the number 2 spot (Cray XT5) was just shy, coming in at 1.059 peteflops/s.
"One petaflop/s represents one quadrillion floating point operations per second. "
Intel sustained a mark of 379 of the 500 supercomputers using their chips and AMD with a mere 60 of the supercomputers using theirs.
Third spot was taken by the SGI (Silicon Graphics) Altix used by NASA.

NASA is utilizing some open source from Mozilla for building a new tracking software which will be able to track space shuttles and deploy measures to correct any faulty issue.
To approach this independently with bottom-up criteria would cost the government in the billions, but now, not only do they save a wad of cash (in the region of 100 million TOTAL cost), they will also be able to save lives!

Remember Ross Perot, independent US candidate for presidency. If you don't, well, his corporation has just bought out Tellurian, a managed hosting provider recently, but no figures were disclosed.
Perot systems is a software company and with Tellurian has added the expertise of hosting to their already large corporation. This in turn should increase their service offerings to the medical arena and not only offer a software solution, but also a practical hosting addition to it.

Netcraft has aggregated traffic information showing the location(s) of top websites and where they are hosted. Google, Akamai and Microsoft fill the top 3 positions for places hosted, though they are fragmented because these sites are the big guns and have multiple locations. The top 3 websites are United Internet, The Planet and OVH, all internet solution providers.
Via successful nameserver lookup, Netcraft takes into account parked domains, personal sites, blogs etc. The information is an indication as to traffic and what sites it influences, but for the most part it is not absolutely accurate as it receives its information via its toolbar.
