Google Concerns

Posted by technology-blog on 01 Dec

Commanding a whopping 63% of worldwide searches, Google is at the forefront of search technology as well as potential misuse of information. you can't get that big and not use the data you collect for good. There is just no way. The amount of influence can change economies of small countries. In addition to world searches, you can forget that there is a google family of websites from gmail to youtube, picasa and so on. The conglomerate offers a new data revolution that can shift and create paradigms of corruption. This is virtual corruption, just so you know. Unfortunately, governments are too busy covering up their own mess than to see what might, has the potential of or set some sort of regulations.

Linux IPv6

Posted by technology-blog on 01 Dec

Steamrolling into the next generation of the internet, many of the linux developers from fortune 500 companies have, since 2005, been helping to pave the road for IP version 6, which will be the next generation of IP traffic. We've basically known about the coming of IPv6 for a long time, but so far we are still using our majority of internet traffic via IPv4. Why would this be? IPv6 has been an issue of discussion for over a decade, but still, while ARIN, APNIC, LACNIC etc are all IP providers and do provide IPv6 blocks, there is still no widespread use other than internally. Not so long ago, Linux has patched up and are now compliant with the Department of Defence compliance. All certification requirements have been taken care of.

The understanding is that by finding family members of criminals (bad guys), they can then make contact and try to search out and locate that law breaker. Is this going too far? Have we completely thrown out and given the government our privacy?

A poll was raised that showed most Brits have no idea how fast their connection was anyway.

Picking Water From Air

Posted by technology-blog on 24 Nov

A new contraption developed by a Canadian firm (Element Four) has created a home-use appliance that can create water by condensing air molecules. It’s ball shape closely resembles a globe that is chopped in half. This water goes through a sterilizing process and through UV light to kill unwanted bacteria and other things that can make us sick and finally out the spout of out sink and or Fridge. Will it take off? “Bottled water is an ecological catastrophe. In the US alone, about 30bn litres of bottled water is consumed every year at a cost of about $11bn (£7.4bn).” The water supply worldwide is not going to improve any time soon and this is a very strong candidate to change the way we think about the environment. During dry climate areas, the machine changes the way it collects water by collecting more at moist times such as early morning or during the night.
