BeOS Successor Keeps the Faith

Posted by technology-blog on 02 Mar

The managing editor of OSNews Thom Holwerda has reportedly reviewed Haiku who is the open source successor of the BE operating system. The editor seems to have only praises for Haiku when he says that the same has been highly successful in replicating user experience for BeOS and also the ‘personality’. It has been able to do so with pronounced short periods for booting. Along with this project, a native GCC 4.3.3 tool chain has also been launched which is really helpful in clearing the path for bringing up-to-date ports for multi-port programs like Firefox and VLC. The entire aim of the technology under consideration is to make the use of Haiku ports easier and more user-friendly.

There just seems to be no other purpose to start a campaign like this unless their OS rival was in their cross-hairs. Not sure though why Linux would be more of a problem than that of MAC who’s OS is UNIX based. Their reason remains unclear, but we do have our suspicions

Ok, yes, no doubt running a red light is dangerous and a person shoul dbe fined for such acts, but Italy ha staken this to a whole new level. Kind of a new way to make more money. The traffic monitory system has been rigged to make the yellow light shorter. So short that the scam has increased recently to bring suspicion and even lead to arrests.

Open Source Vmware

Posted by technology-blog on 04 Feb

There goes another solution that has gone opensource. VMWare has officially decided to make ist desktop version totally opensource. The bottom line is that the popularity of VMWare banked on the growth and usage of Linux/Unix distros. Because of this forward moving motion, the only logical next step was to follow suit. VMware allows multiple operating systems to run on the same unit, which caters to multiple applications to be used at the same time and completely redefines multi-tasking. , not to mention their remote virtualized desktop, which is similar to that of Microsoft’s Hyper V.
