New Microsoft Strategy

Posted by technology-blog on 07 Feb

There’s a new position available for application from the Microsoft Corp. It would seem that they’re looking for an “Open Source” position to be filled. This is not to bring open source to the company, but more so to compete and beat Linux desktop operating systems. There just seems to be no other purpose to start a campaign like this unless their OS rival was in their cross-hairs. Not sure though why Linux would be more of a problem than that of MAC who’s OS is UNIX based. Their reason remains unclear, but we do have our suspicions

Posted by technology-blog on 06 Feb

Many people around the world are familiar with traffic tickets received in the mail from an infraction such as running a red light. You’ll get a statement in a letter with some legal mumbo jumbo and that you need to pay “X“ amount to the local municipality. Ok, yes, no doubt running a red light is dangerous and a person shoul dbe fined for such acts, but Italy ha staken this to a whole new level. Kind of a new way to make more money. Posted by technology-blog on 04 Feb

There goes another solution that has gone opensource. VMWare has officially decided to make ist desktop version totally opensource. The bottom line is that the popularity of VMWare banked on the growth and usage of Linux/Unix distros. Because of this forward moving motion, the only logical next step was to follow suit. VMware allows multiple operating systems to run on the same unit, which caters to multiple applications to be used at the same time and completely redefines multi-tasking. , not to mention their remote virtualized desktop, which is similar to that of Microsoft’s Hyper V.

ISP’s in Britain will no longer be made to disconnect users when found to be downloading illegal matterial, namely music and video files repeatedly. Culture Secretary, Andy Burnham, stated that the government had“serious legislative intent“, however, this did not come to fruition. Basically, it all comes down to a numbers game. Can you really make an effective effort to put a stop to more than 7 million file sharing internet users around the UK every year? The idea was to have a 3 warning procedue in which, if the offence were to be committed multiple times, the users internet connection would be shut off.

For a 40 minute period on Saturday, Googles system falsely flagged sites, even ist OWN with a warning error which stated that “this site may harm your computer“. It caused a rucuss for the next few hours, but the problem only persisted for 40 minutes according to Google representatives. The exact term used was “hiccup“ which they used and chalked it up to human error and learning experience which was never intended to happen. Normally, if this error were to show this statement, it would mean that that particular site has been known to or is prone to some sort of malicious activity, usually involving illegal installation of software onto the surfers computer.
