Internet Initiative Japan Or IIJ announed this week that they have opened their new facility in the Nermia Ward of Tokyo. By increasing the number of datacenters to 15, they are emeeting the expansion requirements and will be able to keep up with growth of business. It will be used for managed services tasks as well as a place for co-location and will be connected to the Shinsaibashi facility for better redundancy and used as a datarecovery center.
The concept is great as this will be a completely green facility cutting down on carbon emissions as the plans are to move forward, environmentally from here on out. Solar technology will be used as well as numerous varieties of flora and fauna, especially ivies along the outside to give it a more distinct look and also make climate control more efficient.
