Remember Ross Perot, independent US candidate for presidency. If you don't, well, his corporation has just bought out Tellurian, a managed hosting provider recently, but no figures were disclosed. Perot systems is a software company and with Tellurian has added the expertise of hosting to their already large corporation. This in turn should increase their service offerings to the medical arena and not only offer a software solution, but also a practical hosting addition to it.

After Netcraft calculated the top one million busiest websites worldwide, it moved onto the top hosting company with the best response times. Normally, you would assume, that this only belonged to the big boys, but toppling Rackspace and NYI.net. Green.ch has come ut ahead of the pack, answering EVERY request made by Netcraft for the entire month of October. Any company can buy loads of bandwidth for massive connectivity redundancy, but software and hardware also play a role. Green.ch uses F5 BIG-IP hardware for load balancing and clustering, while implementing a Windows 2003 environment. A company of 70,000 customers and in a small country, green.ch has done quite a respectable job!

Netcraft Website Traffic Analysis

Netcraft has aggregated traffic information showing the location(s) of top websites and where they are hosted. Google, Akamai and Microsoft fill the top 3 positions for places hosted, though they are fragmented because these sites are the big guns and have multiple locations. The top 3 websites are United Internet, The Planet and OVH, all internet solution providers. Via successful nameserver lookup, Netcraft takes into account parked domains, personal sites, blogs etc. The information is an indication as to traffic and what sites it influences, but for the most part it is not absolutely accurate as it receives its information via its toolbar.

First it we termed it "The Global Village", now turn you head folks to the the Green Village. With the evolving IT technology, more and more companies are putting their R&D dollars into GREEN and I don't mean money. This is the way of the future. Move over Information age, we are heading straight into the "green age". The world is always indirectly affected by what man decides to do, so lets put a little more into making it a better place to live. How cliche, but it's true. With rising energy costs and property getting expensive we see a real need to make things more inexpensive, so two birds with one stone?
